Are All Electricians the Same?

No. When choosing an electrician, it is important to check that they are suitably qualified, insured and working to recognised industry standards.

At homeperform, we are NICEIC Approved Contractors. This means our technical competence, certification procedures and working practices are independently assessed on a regular basis. All work is carried out in accordance with BS 7671 Wiring Regulations and Part P of the Building Regulations where applicable.

Choosing a qualified electrician: What do I need to ask?

Will I Receive Electrical Certificates?

Any electrical work that requires certification should be accompanied by the appropriate documentation.

Depending on the work carried out, this may include:

➡️ Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificates

➡️ Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICR)

These certificates provide evidence that the work has been tested, inspected and completed in accordance with current regulations.

What Happens if an EICR Identifies Problems?

Many homeowners worry that an EICR is simply a way of generating additional work. In reality, the purpose of an EICR is to assess the safety and condition of an electrical installation.

If defects are identified, they will be clearly explained within the report. Observations are categorised using recognised coding systems, such as C1, C2 and C3, to indicate the level of concern.

Where remedial work is required, we are happy to provide a quotation. However, there is absolutely no obligation to use us for any corrective work simply because we carried out the inspection.

Do I Need to Pay a Deposit?

We aim to keep our pricing and booking process straightforward.

For works quoted totalling under £250, no deposit is required and payment is due once the work has been completed.

For works quoted totalling over £250, a 50% deposit is payable upon booking, with the remaining balance due on completion of the works.

Certificates will be issued on receipt of full payment.
