Protecting
Your Biggest
Investment
homeperform finds the issues with your new build home before they become your responsibility.
We independently assess whether your home has been constructed to the standard promised.

What Is
Snagging?
A structured, independent snagging survey gives you clarity and confidence in the quality of your new home.
Buying a new build should be exciting, not the start of ongoing defects and unanswered questions. We assess your home against recognised standards and warranty guidance, looking beyond cosmetic finishes to identify issues with workmanship, installation quality and long-term performance.

Identifying defects early makes them easier to resolve while your builder's warranty remains active, giving you the evidence and confidence to raise concerns before they become bigger problems.
Pre-Completion Inspection (PCI)
A Pre-Completion Inspection is carried out shortly before legal completion, while the property is nearing handover but before you receive the keys.
The inspection follows the official NHQB checklist and focuses on identifying visible defects, unfinished work and workmanship issues so they can be raised with the developer before you complete on the purchase.
New Build Snagging Survey
Our Signature Snagging Survey is a comprehensive inspection carried out after you receive the keys to your new home, typically within the first six months.

It combines visual assessment with specialist checks, such as thermal imaging, ventilation testing, and roof inspection, to identify both visible defects and hidden performance issues.
End of Warranty Snagging Survey
If you are approaching the end of your builder’s warranty period, an End of Warranty Survey helps identify important defects before responsibility transfers away from the developer.

The survey focuses on the key structural and performance elements of the home, helping ensure any issues are identified and can be raised at the appropriate stage.

Why This
Matters
While new build homes are expected to meet these recognised standards, defects and workmanship issues still occur.

An independent snagging survey helps identify areas that may fall below expected standards, providing clear evidence so concerns can be raised with your developer at the appropriate stage.
The New Homes
Quality Code

The New Homes Quality Code sets out requirements for how developers must treat customers throughout the purchase process.
This includes clearer customer service standards, greater transparency and the opportunity for buyers to arrange an independent Pre-Completion Inspection before legal completion, where applicable.
Warranty
Provider
Standards
Most new homes are covered by a structural warranty from providers such as NHBC, LABC Warranty or Premier Guarantee.
These organisations set technical standards for developers and provide guidelines on workmanship tolerances.

When conducting a snagging survey, these tolerances serve as a key benchmark for assessing compliance with recognised standards.
Building Regulations

Building Regulations are statutory requirements that apply to the construction of new homes.

They help ensure a property is built safely and performs properly in areas such as structure, fire safety, insulation, ventilation, drainage and electrical safety.
What Standards
Should a New
Build Home Meet?
New build homes in the UK must meet a range of construction, safety and workmanship standards.
These standards are intended to ensure that properties are built safely, finished to an acceptable quality and perform as they should for the homeowner.
